Privacy Policy
Mundane Browser — Privacy Policy Last updated: April 20, 2025
1. Who we are
Mundane is an open-source, privacy-first desktop browser built and maintained by Ali Calimli. For any privacy-related questions, contact alicalimli76@gmail.com.
2. Data Collection
Mundane does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing data. Your tabs, bookmarks, history, and workspaces stay on your device.
Mundane is your personal browser and your privacy is one of its core values.
3. What stays on your device
The following data is stored locally and never leaves your machine:
- Browser history
- Bookmarks and notes
- Open tabs and workspaces
- Workspace themes and settings
- Any other in-app preferences
We have no database of your activity. We have no server receiving it.
4. What does leave your device
Automatic update checks Mundane checks for new versions automatically. This involves your device making a network request to our update server (or GitHub Releases). This request may include your current app version and operating system. It is used solely to determine if an update is available and nothing else is logged or retained.
Normal web traffic When you browse the web, your requests go to the websites you visit — just like any other browser. If you search on Google, your query goes to Google. If you visit a website with trackers, those trackers may see your visit. Mundane’s built-in ad and tracker blocker reduces this significantly, but it does not make you invisible on the internet. This traffic is entirely outside our control and governed by each website’s own privacy policy.
Crash reporting (future) We may add optional crash reporting in a future update to help improve stability. If we do, it will be clearly disclosed, opt-in, and this policy will be updated before it ships.
5. Third parties
Mundane itself uses no third-party analytics, telemetry, or tracking services. We do not use Sentry, Mixpanel, or any equivalent tool at this time.
The only external contact the app makes is the update checker described in Section 4.
6. Open source
Mundane’s source code is publicly available on GitHub. You are welcome to inspect exactly what the app does and does not send. We believe transparency is the only real privacy guarantee.
7. Children
Mundane is a general-purpose browser with no age-gating. We do not collect any personal data from any users, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add crash reporting or any other data collection in the future, we will update this policy before shipping that feature. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes.
